Chase’s Story

In the beginning, there was Chase. Nah jk, here we go.

We’ve all faced adversity; have you ever wondered how you’d make it through?

I grew up in a divorced family, on my mom’s side, it was all about sports and school, and on my dad’s side, it was all about drugs and rock and roll. I learned to live a double life early on that taught me how to paint a really good picture on the outside when things were actually falling apart on the inside. The picture I painted showed a bright kid who was on his way to playing college ball, but in reality, I was covering up trauma and abuse with a drug addiction that started at 11 years old.

When I finally opened my eyes and looked around at 20 years old, the last nine years had been a blur. I had gotten in multiple car accidents, been arrested four times, and was facing 5 to 10 years in prison. I thought to myself, “How did this happen?” and how was I going to climb out of this hole that I had been digging for nearly a decade?

A situation like this required a whole lot of grit and a whole lot of grace.

In the months that followed my stint in rehab, I found Jesus, entered into a sober living program, and now, I get to help other addicts find freedom from addiction. This road has come with many challenges, but I know now that the grit it took to turn my life around was always within me, I just had to tap into it to see the full potential of what my life could be.
